Animation of losing and gaining a proton. As you watch it, figure out when something is behaving as a base or as an acid according to the definition "Acids donate a proton (H+). Bases accept a proton (H+)" You should be able to write a chemical equation using a double arrow to describe this equation. We used a double arrow in today's notes. We took our first big test of the semester, Test 1 today. It won't be graded until Saturday. Tonight's homework is to write a love poem to an element. Read the instructions and choose an element here. Online information about your element is here, here, and here. Remember, this is a love poem, you're supposed to anthropomorphize the element. You can write in the voice of a secret admirer, a spurned lover, or just a platonic buddy. See the instruction sheet for more advice and some examples.
